Spreading Gratitude Throughout Our Community.

About

A

Words to Heart is a student-found and led organization at Plano West Senior High School in Plano, TX.

We aim to deliver encouragement to people in need and gratitude to public service workers in the form of heartfelt letters written by students. Once every 2 weeks at school, students spend their lunchtime writing letters to a different service occupation each week, and these letters are then delivered to their destinations by our officer team

Words to Heart is recognized by a number of official service organizations (National Honor Society, Key Club, Spanish Honor Society); students may earn service hours for their time spent writing letters. Through promoting recognition of the roles that civil servants play in maintaining our community, we hope to create awareness and incite passion for service amongst our student body.

WRITING LETTERS

  • Doesn't need to be super long! 4-5 sentences is great.

  • Be genuine! If you have trouble thinking about what to write, think about how the civil servant's work affects your life.

  • You can choose to remain anonymous (i.e. "From a high school student"), but it's highly recommended that you leave your first name! We will leave our organization email on all letters, and if our recipients choose to reply, we can forward their response to you.

  • Please avoid sensitive/controversial topics. All letters will be proofread by our officers.

  • If you are at a loss for words, draw a picture/illustration!

  • We also highly encourage you to decorate your card with art (not required)

“I want to say thank you to the kind young people at Words to Heart. Their kind letters of gratitude warmed my heart and gave me hope in a very dark time. These young people are bringing a little joy to those who are struggling, with daily life or something more. Thank you for the joy you brought to me and the joy you bring to others.”
